    Creation process.

I craft each coaster and presentation box with love and care, it's important to me that the item you receive is the best I can produce. Let me take you through how I create my coasters. The bare wood is brought into my studio and stained or painted the right colour with low or zero impact stains or paints and allowed to dry for 24 hours before being placed onto the laser. The laser is closed and the cutting process started. Once complete the wood is then cleaned and conditioned to remove burn marks and is treated with food grade wood sealer to protect the wood from moisture and seal in the colour. This helps to give the product a long working life. Once sealed, any gluing that is required is done, typically this involves gluing the coaster backs onto the front and constructing the box. Everything is clamped and set aside for 24 to 48 hours to fully cure depending on prevailling environmental conditions. I use low impact glues. Once fully cured the baize is also cut on the laser and applied to the bottoms of the coasters and box.  A coat of 100% beeswax is applied that gives the wood a nice lustre and another layer of protection. Finally I apply my "The Artful Janner" sticker and place a small slip with care instructions in the box and the set is complete and ready for posting :)
